Gemini Dancer
Roleplaying a Gemini Dancer
The bards accross the land can dazzle their audiences with their mastery of instruments. However, none can match the Gemini Dancer's mastery over her whole body and movements. Her dances are more than just inspiring to a crowd... they are deadly!
A Gemini Dancer cares less for those around her than the bard and she is, in general, far less sociable. Also unlike the merry minstrels, she does not require the help of others to kill.
Adventures: To chance upon a Gemini Dancer is a rare happening, but to meet one that has taken the mantle of adventurer is perhaps the rarest of all. Gemini Dancer's are known to focus on their dance craft to the exclusion of all else, however there are those who strive for something else. Some Gemini Dancers seek to perfect their craft upon the grand dance floor that, to them, is the world whereas others strive to test their abilities against other dancers and enemies alike. Thus it is no surprise that a common trait shared among the few Gemini Dancers to take up adventuring is a love of showing off their magnificent dancing skills. Anyone can become an adventurer, but only a Gemini Dancer can do it with style. Characteristics: Gemini Dancers revel in combat, as the battlefield becomes one giant dance floor with which to show off their magnificent skills. The harmony and chaos of the battlefield fuels their every step and every move in ways like no other. Once they realize their own rhythm's place in the great harmonious dance of combat, their Gemini Dance begins and the Gemini Dancer truly comes into her own. The Gemini Dancer dances in deliciously unpredictable ways that give her brilliant fighting style advantages beyond compare and her enemies something to fear as well as admire. An experienced Gemini Dancer can even call forth a being created from the very essence of her own inner rhythm to aid her in battle. Such a Gemini Dancer and her Twin are as deadly as they are beautiful as they fight in complete unison. Outside of a battle, a Gemini Dancer's inner harmony lends itself well to many traits make her a swift and able learner. Though a Gemini Dancer is not as versatile as a Bard or Rogue, her skills are many and effective. Alignment: Gemini Dancers answer to a rhythmic existence entirely their own. Some choose to shape that rhythm themselves and define this aspect of their lives themselves whereas others would allow it to shape itself and define themselves by it instead. Consequently a Gemini Dancer may be lawful just as easily as she may be chaotic. Just as the Gemini Dancer is not drawn toward Law or Chaos, she is not drawn toward Good or Evil. Each Gemini Dancer decides for herself what she shall become. Religion: Few Gemini Dancers pay much attention to religion. Their powers are gained through their own work, not through devotion to a greater being. A few worship Fharlaghn, God of Roads, as their lives generally lead them across the world. Some sneakier Gemini Dancers follow Olidammara while other Gemini Dancers worship Ehlonna, commonly living in her wilderness. They may also worship Ehlonna's grace. Background: Gemini Dancers are not so much taught as they are born. To become a Gemini Dancer, one must have an innate gift to sense her own inner rhythm. This gift defines the Gemini Dancer's very essence as her mind and soul come together in perfect harmony. For each person this rhythm is different so while Gemini Dancers may seek out more experienced mentors to show them how to harness this gift, an ordinary person cannot simply learn this ability. However, there have been instances where a person has attained such a harmony of mind and soul as to awaken the latent abilitiesof the Gemini Dancer, but these rare cases are just that, rare.
Races: The calling of a Gemini Dancer is a rare one that comes from the spirit. Gemini Dancers have been known to come from all walks of life, but most prevalent are Human and Elven Gemini Dancers. Something about these races seems allow them to attune themselves to their own special rhythm more so than other races. Other races such as Halflings, Gnomes, and Half-Elves are also capable Gemini Dancers in their own rights whereas races such as Dwarves and Half-Orcs not very well suited to the life of a Gemini Dancer. Other Classes: While Gemini Dancers tend to be loners, they generally welcome the opportunity to show their skills to others. Most Gemini Dancers will work well enough with others, but there will always be tension between a Gemini Dancer and a member of a less graceful class. Gemini Dancers and Rogues work well together as each class as the classes both possess their own unique styles and skills which complement the other. Sorcerers and Gemini Dancers also get along well together as both classes rely on their own unique talents and powers. A Gemini Dancer usually takes no interest in a Cleric's devotion to her god, but will recognize the value of such. Gemini Dancers have a decidedly lower opinion of Fighters who tread the battlefield in complete ignorance of the true beauty of a battle and just generally make a mess of the Gemini Dancer's dance floor. Despite the fact they are similar, Bards and Gemini Dancers do not mesh well. Gemini Dancers dislike Bards' generalization and believe they should focus on their musical skills more. They also find it insulting when bards try to make a song to go along with a Gemini Dance. No class inspires more ire in a Gemini Dancer than a Monk however. As both classes have their own ideas of the true origin inner strength that neither will give ground upon, hostility is never far off between these two. A Gemini Dancer and a Monk working together, while truly a sight to behold, is almost never more than a tenuous alliance at best. Role: In a group a Gemini Dancer may fulfill many roles. Despite the hermitic nature of most Gemini Dancers, a Gemini Dancer possesses intimate knowledge of what motivates others which allows her a keen insight on knowing what to say at just the right time and even when recognizing when someone isn't what they appear to be. This allows to the Gemini Dancer to represent a group in a social context. A result of a Gemini Dancer's own grace and rhythm is also the mastery of her own movement in that the Gemini Dancer can precisely control her own movement to such a degree as to excel at many physical skills. These abilities make her an adept scout should such be required. Finally, the Gemini Dancer is a warrior and as such is fully capable of meeting any enemy on the battlefield in a direct confrontation.Gemini Dancers have the following game statistics.
- Alignment: Any.
- Hit Die: d8
- Starting gold: As monk

Class features
All of the following are class features of the Gemini Dancer.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency
Gemini Dancers are proficient with all simple and martial weapons. They are not proficient with any type of armor or shield. A Gemini Dancer wearing any armor loses the benefits of her AC bonus, Gemini Speed ability, and all dancing and gemini companion abilities.
AC Bonus (Ex)
When unarmored and unencumbered, the Gemini Dancer adds her Charisma bonus (if any) to her AC. In addition, a dancer gains a +1 bonus to AC at 1st level. This bonus increases by 1 for every five Gemini Dancer levels thereafter (+2 at 5th, +3 at 10th, +4 at 15th, and +5 at 20th level).
Gemini Speed (Ex)
At 1st level a Gemini Dancer gains a +5' enhancement bonus to her speed while she is unarmored and unencumbered. This speed bonus increases by 5' at 5th level and every 5 levels thereafter.
Weapon Finesse (Ex)
At 1st level, a Gemini Dancer gains Weapon Finesse as a bonus feat.
Gemini Dance (Ex)
A Gemini Dancer may begin a special dance known as a Gemini Dance. While dancing the Gemini Dancer gains +4 to Dexterity, +1 to all saving throws, and the ability to take a 5' step between attacks when making a full-round attack up to a maximum distance of the Gemini Dancer's normal movement. During a dance, a Gemini Dancer may only wield finesse weapons. During the Gemini Dance, she may make one extra attack in a round at her highest base attack bonus, but this attack takes a –2 penalty, as does each other attack made that round. A gemini dancer may not cast any spells with somatic components during a dance. If the Gemini Dancer is immobilized all benefits of a Gemini Dance are lost temporarily. If the Gemini dancer manages to get back on her feet and continue dancing, the dance use is not lost, she reenters the dance and the duration continues to count down from the amount of time the Gemini Dancer had left before being stalled by the condition
This dance lasts for 3 rounds plus 1 round per 2 ranks of Perform(Dance). The Gemini Dancer is fatigued for the duration of the encounter after performing a Gemini Dance.
At the end of the dance, the Gemini Dancer loses the dancer modifiers and restrictions and becomes fatigued (-2 penalty to Strength, -2 penalty to Dexterity, can’t charge or run) for the duration of the current encounter (unless he is a 17th-level dancer, at which point this limitation no longer applies).
A Gemini Dancer can enter into a dance only once per encounter. At 2nd level she can use her dance ability once per day. At 6th level and every four levels thereafter, he can use it one additional time per day (to a maximum of five times per day at 18th level). Entering a dance takes no time itself, but a Gemini Dancer can do it only during her action, not in response to someone else’s action.
Gemini Image (Su)
When a Gemini Dancer of 3rd level or higher enters a Gemini Dance, she can create a illusionary double of herself. This image must be created withing 15' of her position. This image lasts for the duration of the dance or until destroyed. A Gemini Dancer's Image can provide a flanking bonus, but cannot otherwise attack or cause damage.
A Gemini Image can be moved during a move action by the dancer; it has the same speed as the dancer. A Gemini Dancer can also reposition the image by spending a move action to jump the image to a new location. The image moves as if affected by a Dimension Door spell. Either of these uses do not provoke additional attacks of opportunity beyond what her movement would normally provoke.
This image has an AC equal to 10+ her Dex and Cha modifiers + her class bonus to AC and hit points equal to 1/10 of the Gemini Dancer's HP. When a creature strikes a Image, they make a will save to uncover the illusion's true nature (DC 10+1/2 class level+ Cha modifer). The image has the benefits of the mobility feat when attempting to flank targets.
Dance Style
At 4th level, a Gemini Dancer chooses style path from the Dance Styles list. After she has chosen a path, she gains the first feat in the chain for free. She may take further abilities along the path by taking the abilities as feats.
Evasion (Ex)
At 5th level or higher if a Gemini Dancer makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if a Gemini Dancer is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless Gemini Dancer does not gain the benefit of evasion.
Harmonic Dance (Ex)
Upon reaching 7th level, the Gemini Dancer and her Image gain an additional +2 unnamed bonus to hit when they flank the same creature.
Improved Gemini Dance (Ex)
Upon reaching 7th level, a Gemini Dancer's Dance improves bestowing an additional +1 on all saving throws (for a total of +2). Also, the penalty for taking an additional attack is reduced to -1.
Uncanny Dodge (Ex)
Upon reaching 8th level, a Gemini Dancer can react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so. She retains her Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) even if she is caught flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. However, she still loses her Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized.
If a Gemini Dancer already has uncanny dodge from a different class she automatically gains improved uncanny dodge (see below) instead.
Gemini Companion (Su)
At 8th level, a Gemini Dancer's Image becomes a quasi-real fighting ally, the Gemini Companion. It now has 50% of a Gemini Dancer's hp and can deal damage with it's weapon. A creature no longer receives a save when interacting with a Companion. It does not threaten any creatures other then the ones it flanks with its Gemini Dancer.
The Gemini Companion can take an attack whenever you take an attack action, including taking a full attack when you take a full attack. The Companion's attack bonus is equal to its dancer's BAB + ability modifiers + weapon enhancements - 4. It deals damage equal to half of your base damage plus enhancements.
In addition, the Companion also gains the ability to use one of your feats.
Rhythm Strike (Ex)
At 9th level, a Gemini Dancer adds her Charisma modifier to damage rolls that she make during a dance.
Improved Uncanny Dodge (Ex)
Upon reaching 11th level, the Gemini Dancer can no longer be flanked. This defense denies a rogue the ability to sneak attack the character by flanking her, unless the attacker has at least four more levels than the target does in a class, or combination of classes, that grants improved uncanny dodge.
If a character already has uncanny dodge (see above) from a second class, the character automatically gains improved uncanny dodge instead, and the levels from the classes that grant uncanny dodge stack to determine the minimum number levels required to flank the character.
Greater Gemini Dance (Ex)
Upon reaching 12th level, the Gemini Dancer's Gemini Dance improves bestowing an additional +2 to Dexterity (for a total of +6), and lowering the penalty for making an extra attack per round to +0. The Gemini Dancer may also make a move action in addition to a full attack action each round, but not if she takes any 5'-steps in the round. If you take a move action and a full attack in the same round, your Gemini Companion can either full attack or move and take a single attack.
Improved Harmonic Dance (Ex)
Upon reaching 13th level, the Gemini Dancer gains a +4 bonus to attack when flanking with any ally and the bonus to flanking with her Gemini Companion is increased to +6. The Gemini Companion gains the benefits of this ability as well.
Gemini Sentience (Ex)
At 13th level a dancer's Companion gains the ability to act independently of the Gemini Dancer. It can be directed as an independent creature and is not required to mirror the dancer's actions. Its hp are now equal to 75% of the dancer's hp. It no longer suffers the -4 penalty to hit. Any skill checks made by a Gemini Companion are at a bonus equal to half of the dancer's bonus.
A Gemini Companion also gains the ability to use an additional one of its Gemini Dancer's feats.
Improved Rhythm Strike (Ex)
Upon reaching 15th level, the Gemini Dancer adds her Charisma bonus to all melee damage rolls.
Greater Harmonic Dance (Ex)
Upon reaching 16th level, when a Gemini Dancer flanks with an ally other than her Gemini companion, her ally also gains the +4 bonus for flanking rather than +2.
Tireless Dance (Ex)
Upon reaching the 17th level, the Gemini Dancer is no longer fatigued for the duration of the encounter after performing a Gemini Dance.
Gemini Twin (Su)
At 19th level a Gemini Dancer's Companion becomes a Gemini Twin. The twin has the same number of hit points as the Gemini Dancer, and deals full damage. A twin begins with a copy of all of the Gemini Dancer's passive items and magical effects activated before the dance begins.
A Gemini Companion also gains the ability to use an additional one of its Gemini Dancer's feats, bringing the total number of feats it is able to use to three.
Gemini Master (Su)
At 20th level, A Gemini Dancer may, as a full round action by both her and her twin, create a Gemini Twin that full attacks every enemy within 40'. She may choose the position that each of these images appear in to allow them to flank with each other. This images last until the end of your current action. A dancer can create a number of images equal to her number of ranks in perform.
This ability can be performed once per day during a dance.
Perfect Gemini Dance (Ex)
Upon reaching reaching 20th level, the Gemini Dancer's Gemini Dance improves once more to bestow an additional +2 to Dexterity (for a total of +8), and a +1 to all saving throws (for a total of +3). The Gemini Dancer also gains the ability to make two extra attacks per round instead of one with no to-hit penalty.
Multiclass Restiction
A Gemini Dancer who takes levels in any other class may never again take levels in Gemini Dancer, as the art requires unflaunting devotion to its mastery. An ex-Gemini Dancer does not lose any class abilities.
